Meet the Sherwin-Williams 2023 Color of the Year Redend Point

The 2023 paint color of the year from Sherwin-Williams (SW) has been officially announced as Redend Point (SW 9081). The warm, light terra cotta hue compliments the boho vibe we’re feeling from interior decor like pillows, paintings, and rugs that are in stores right now. Boho, short for Bohemian, is a style that roots itself in nature and earth tones.

Redend Point harkens the feel of the southwest, red sands, and sunsets. It’s like a blush married beige and had a beautiful baby that is like a calming desert. Surprisingly, it can work as a neutral color. It also works well on its own or as part of an overall scheme for your entire home.

2023 Colors of the Year

Each year, painters, decorators, and homeowners await the announcement of the colors of the year (COTY). Companies like Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Pantone throw their color picks out annually. The chosen colors set the tone for the coming year and greatly influence interior design trends for the year and beyond.

It’s interesting to note this year, all three of the mentioned brands have gone with a red-based color. While SW went cozy, Benjamin Moore and Pantone went bold and saucy. Benjamin Moore’s Raspberry Blush is a vibrant watermelon red-orange color that will undoubtedly give a room personality and pop. Pantone’s 2023 COTY is Viva Magenta. A full and rich deep red-pink that Pantone says “vibrates with vim and vigor.” It’s sassy and playful and the very opposite of SW Redend Point.

Decorating with SW Redend Point

Sherwin-Williams uses words to describe Redend Point, like calming, inviting, and versatile. Featured on walls and cabinets on the SW website, the color is the perfect backdrop as a base color to build off for the rest of the decor in your home. It can handle deeper pops of color or be the pop of color set against a gray background.

Coordinating Paint Colors

The colors that coordinate with Redend Point are also warm and earthy. Urban Bronze, a recent COTY itself, is a rich brown with gray undertones that would pair well with and contrast with Redend Point. SW recommends the paint color Pure White as a complementary white to go with their 2023 color of the year. Carnelian is a lovely reddish brown that goes perfectly with it as well.

2022 Color of the Year

We’re not quite ready to abandon Evergreen Fog, the 2022 color of the year. It also had a very boho chic vibe going on in a mossy green way. These two colors would work well in a home together, especially if you are trying to move away from the gray/greige palette that has dominated the last decade.
