Celebrating Sherwin Williams 2021 Color of the Year

In September Sherwin Williams announced its color of the year and we are loving it. In the world of interior design, 2021 is drawing emphasis on serenity, calm, joy, and relaxation in the home. After all, the home was the setting to the story that was 2020, and most likely will continue into 2021.
So let us introduce to you Sherwin Williams 2021 color of the year, Urban Bronze. This dark, warm shade with gray undertones is meant to invoke calm and comfort, making the home a retreat away from the chaos of the world, while also bringing the power of nature indoors.

History of Sherwin Williams Color of the Year
With a company as old as Sherwin Williams, about 154 years old to be exact, it has become the global leader for coating manufacturing, so undoubtedly it has been leading the way with color trend forecasting for decades.
In 2019 the color experts at Sherwin Williams brought nature in with an earthy, desert color called Cavern Clay- a warm terracotta hue.
Then in 2020, they announced their color of the year Naval-a striking navy, that invoked elements of the night sky. Simultaneously, Sherwin Williams introduced the term biophilia, which they describe as “our intrinsic need as humans to interact with nature.”
While the colors and trends are changing every year, Sherwin Williams continues to draw inspiration from nature, and the human need to interact with it. Of course, Urbane Bronze for 2021 is no exception; “Nature at its simplest and most elemental — embodying the richness of the Earth’s stone, metal, and wood — forges a feeling that’s grounded, meditative and serene.”
Tips for Decorating with Urbane Bronze
Urbane Bronze is a part of the Sanctuary Palette by Sherwin Williams and is influenced by Scandinavian design. This palette exudes a warm simplicity.
Pair Urban Bronze with other colors in the palette like Modern Gray, a pale stone shade with gray undertones, or Messenger Bag, a subtle earthy green.
Add other design elements, such as pale woods, like ash, and pale-toned stones like Carrera marble. These elements, while understated, are a stunning contrast with the warmth of Urbane Bronze.
For an eye-catching flicker of brilliance, urban bronze is an attractive backdrop to metals like polished silver and brass.
How will you be inspired to use Urbane Bronze in your home in 2021? It would be our delight at Flowers Painting to help bring inspiration to life for you this New Year.
